BOOKS TO CAMEROON CHILDREN

Books educate and inspire young minds, but throughout schools in rural areas in Cameroon, books and learning materials are in very short supply. In particular, picture books and early learning story books have never been seen in many schools.

Children in these areas never experience the pleasure of reading a book together in a class, looking at the pictures and words to follow a story, or of relating with the teacher afterwards what the story is about. As a result, many children don't develop a real love for reading, their thirst for knowledge is frustrated, and a child's imagination and aspirations are not given the same potential to develop and grow.

One of the Future Hope Foundation's mission is to promote reading in schools and also promote early learning skills among children from these areas. This is an exciting project that allows you to make a direct contribution to stimulating a culture of reading in a Cameroonian school by sending your unwanted books and learning materials to us.

By sending a copy of one or more of the books on the selected reading list, or by posting your own copy of an early learning story or picture book, you will be directly contributing to standards of literacy and education in that school. You will be inspiring a child's imagination, and they will be experiencing that reading is fun:

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one.”
 George R.R. Martin
